Grief is a word that needs attention in order to heal. To work through and complete grief means to face our feelings fully, to tolerate and accept out feelings for however long it takes for the wound to heal. For most of us, that is a big order. Therefore, it takes courage to grieve. It takes courage to feel out pain and to face the unfamiliar. It also takes courage to grieve in a society that mistakenly values restraint, where we risk rejection of others by being open or different. Open mourners are a select group, willing to journey into pain and sorrow and anger in order to heal and recover.

Heartbeat
Heartbeat is a monthly drop-in support group for youth and adult survivors. Heartbeat cannot take away the pain, but it does help to share it in an atmosphere of love, acceptance and reinforcement. Heartbeat brings healthy coping technique through empathy and understanding reinforced through acceptance without judgment and affirmation of self-worth.
This group meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm at the SESS office.
Heart to Heart Grief and Support Groups
It helps to talk. It heals to share. It comforts to know you are not alone in your grief.
Heart to Heart Grief and Support Groups are an eight week education support group designed to help suicide survivors understand and work through their grief. Survivors learn more about the unique grief response following a suicide death. Learn coping strategies to help deal with grief. Share experiences with other survivors and benefit from their support.
Separate group are available for adults, teens and children. There is no charge for participating in a Heart to Heart group.
Suicide Survivor Fund
We know the tragedy of a suicide is a traumatic experience that unfortunately comes with unforeseen financial burden. SESS has created the Suicide Survivor Fund to help families with some of these financial burdens. The Fund is made possible by donations and there is a limit of up to $500 per award. Grants are not loans and do not need to be repaid. However, if you are someday in a position to make a donation to the Fund, it will be greatly appreciated by others who will need help in the future. These awards are limited to Weld County residents.
