Suicide Education & Support Services is a private non-profit agency.  With Heartbeat as its first program, SESS gradually developed prevention programs targeted to youth, adults and the Latino community.  While SESS is NOT a CRISIS center, it does collaborate closely with North Range Behavioral Health and NCMC Behavioral Health to get professional help to those who are contemplating suicide.

The goals of SESS are to educate the community on the issue of suicide and provide support to those who have lost someone to suicide.

** We are NOT a crisis center.** If you or someone you know is in crisis please:

  • call 1 800 SUICIDE
  • North Range Behavioral Health 24/7 crisis line (970) 347-2120 or 1 888 296-5827
  • NCMC Behavioral Health 24/7 crisis line (970) 352 - 1056
  • Emergency Medical Assistance 911
  • or go to the nearest emergency room

coming August 2008
When tired, lonely or distressed, we crave the culinary equivalent of holding a waiting hand, snuggling under a homemade afghan, sharing a secret with a childhood friend.

In high stress situations we let our taste memories return us to the emotional security of familiar, flavorful, rich foods. From pasta to potatoes to pudding, these foods are uncomplicated and fulfilling. These are the meals that we share with our most loved ones: the hardest used pages, the most stained index cards, the measurements we know by heart. When it comes down to it we are not just making a meal, we are making a memory.

Suicide Education & Support Services is inviting all survivors of sudden loss to submit their memorable recipes for publishing in our upcoming cookbook Comfort Foods, to be released August 2008. Multiple submissions are encouraged. You have an opportunity to dedicate a personalized page to a loved one with a quality black and white photo.
